About the 57C424
The 57C424 is a High-Speed Link Module produced by Reliance Electric. This part may have also been in production with Asea Brown Boveri and Reliance Electric depending on the actual years it was being manufactured.
The 57C424 is a MaxPak III Speed Link Module. This component’s main purpose was to provide a direct communication link between a MaxPak III drive controller and an AutoMax system. This component helps to configure various devices into a standard setup which allows for many different tasks. These tasks can include device tension regulation and positioning. This module has communication speeds that are fast enough to be able to handle control loops or feedback and reference data migrations.
This module is meant to plug directly into an AutoMax DCS System Rack. There are a few different things on the faceplate of a 57C424. It has LED status indicators that are labeled as FAULT CODE. One of these LEDs is a green OK light and the other is a 7-segment error code indicator. These LEDs will let you know the module is functioning the way it should and if it is not, then it will display the error codes for you to look up what has failed in the product manuals. There are also a set of DROP NUMBER thumbwheels that are labeled 1st and 2nd. There is an RS-232 female GATEWAY communications port.
The 57C424 can be plugged into the rack assembly using the female card slots on the backplane of the rack. Once it is in place, you can use the mounting brackets to secure it into place. The brackets on the 57C424 can be used to safely remove it from the rack.
