About the 57C428
The 57C428 is a Reliance Electric made Servo Control Interface Module. This part may or may not have been sold under the Baldor Reliance or Asea Brown Boveri product lines depending on when this device was actually being mass-produced.
The 57C428 was created to be part of an AutoMax DCS as a Toledo Scale Interface Module. Its main objective was to provide the AutoMax system with varying weight specifications from Toledo indicators. These indicators are 8132, 8140, 8142, and 8530. This component was meant to be seen as a read-only device. When it was functioning in a constant output mode, this device was able to collect data that was related to weight from a gauge using typical Toledo Scale practices.
The 57C428 had several features that were prominent on its faceplate. It had LED status lights that were labeled OK and FAULT. The OK light was green and let the user know the system was running smoothly. The FAULT indicator was a 7-segment error code display that would tell the user if there was an issue with the module. It would then produce codes for the user to look up in the product manual. This module also had an RS-232 female GATEWAY communication port. It was used to link up the module to non-AutoMax hardware or to the network.
The 57C428 could be installed directly into an AutoMax storage rack. It was easily slid into an open slot and plugged into the female card slots on the back of the rack.
