About the 57C565
The 57C565 is a Serial Board Assembly created by Reliance Electric. Depending on what years it was in production, it may have also been sold by Asea Brown Boveri and Baldor Reliance. None of the original companies are still supporting the 57C565, but AX Control still tries to keep this board in stock.
The 57C565 is an optional Serial Board for the AutoMax PC3000 series of processing hardware. It is just the serial card replacement option and an attached ribbon cable. Although often, you can find this card in a 57C570 packaged version of this processing system that comes with a processor, enclosure, the serial card, and an accessory bag. You have the option of installing this card into the packaged version or you can install it directly to a PC chassis.
This serial card is a full-size ISA card. It has an RS-232 programming/application port and an RS-232/RS-422 application port. It has two female connections. One is a 9-pin D shell and the other is a 25-pin D shell. The 25-pin D shell can become a standard PC connection, or you can keep it as an RS-232 serial port. It has two sets of jumpers. It uses an E1/E2 set and an E3/E4 set.
When installing the 57C565 into the packaged version, it goes into one of the empty slots on the backplane of the chassis. You screw the board into place using a slot cover screw. You then run the ribbon cable to the processor card, 57560. Finally, you are able to close the chassis, remount it, and turn the power on to the system.
