About the 58820
The 58820 is a Multibus Control/Net Module (MBCN) mass-produced by Reliance Electric. It may have also been sold under the Baldor Reliance, Asea Brown Boveri, and Rockwell Automation product lines depending on the actual dates it was in production. None of these manufacturing companies are still maintaining support for this board. AX Control does try to keep it in stock though.
The 58820 is an MBCN made for an AutoMax DCS system. It is part of the Rockwell Automation Drive System. This module’s main purpose is to make the Reliance system better by providing a safe environment to transfer to a new control platform and creating a faster throughput. This part is considered to be a scanner ControlNet v 1.5 module that goes with a Multibus environment that is being used by an AutoMax controller.
This module has a faceplate that possesses lots of components. It has a 7-segment LED error indicator that tells you if the module has developed a flaw. There is an OK green LED indicator that lets you know the system is running fine. There two thumbscrolls labeled MAC ID 10 and 1. There is an RS-232 connection that is labeled CONFIG and a connection labeled NAP. There are two coaxial connections labeled COM A and COM B.
The 58820 plugs into an AutoMax card storing rack. It slides into the accessible side of the rack and then into a pair of female card slots that are positioned on the backplane of the rack. You can then fully secure the card using two screws and mounting brackets positioned on the rack and module.
