The O-57417- unit is the AutoMate Interface Module, which was distributed by Reliance Electric. Although this device is no longer being produced by the original manufacturer, AX Control might have it in stock due to access to surplus Reliance Electric stock. 

The main purpose of the O-57417- AutoMate Interface Module is to be an interface between the AutoMax system and the AutoMate system it is connected to via an RS-232 link that uses the AutoMate Communication protocol. The O-57417- AutoMate Interface Module can be connected to several different AutoMate devices. For example, you can connect this device to an R-Net Gateway Interface Head, a Serial Communication Processor, or directly into an AutoMate Processor unit.

The O-57417- AutoMate Interface Module can be connected to an AutoMax rack via any of its slot, so long as it already contains at least one AutoMax Processor unit. In addition to that, the O-57417- AutoMate Interface Module can communicate with a maximum of four AutoMax Processors in the rack using its dual port memory capability.

Before installing the O-57417- AutoMate Interface Module into a rack, be sure to stop any running applications and turn off the rack’s power. Insert the O-57417- AutoMate Interface Module into the rack and use a screwdriver to ensure it is secure. Using the two thumbwheel switches on its faceplate, set the module’s drop number. If your communication link is less than fifty feet long, then connect the O-57417- AutoMate Interface Module to the remote device. If the communication link is greater than fifty feet in length, connect it to the system using the Short Haul Modem connector and the interface cable. After the device is connected, you can turn the rack’s power back on.
