The O-57440- unit is an Ethernet Network Interface module that was made by Reliance Electric to be used within the AutoMax family of products. This device has had its production halted, but AX Control may still have it in stock.

The O-57440- Ethernet Network Interface (ENI) module was designed to give AutoMax processors the ability to access TCP/IP Ethernet local area networks. This package consists of the module itself and the software that is compatible with it. Be aware, however, that the O-57440- ENI module package does not include any of the cabling that is necessary for use and must be provided by the operator.

The O-57440- ENI module is a high performance communication processor that was designed to provide a physical interface and communication intelligence for connecting the AutoMax processor to local area networks. This physical interface is in compliance with the standards set by Ethernet 2.0 and IEEE 803.2 guidelines. In addition to that, the communication that is used with the O-57440- ENI module is implemented using a TCP/IP network protocol, which is a necessary industry standard protocol for computer networking processes.

The ENI software that is loaded onto the O-57440- ENI module is able to provide the application task interface for the O-57440- ENI module. This interface is implemented in such a way that it acts as a set of functions within the AutoMax BASIC that are modeled after the UNIX SOCKETS library. 

Keep in mind that the O-57440- ENI module may only be used within racks onto which the Ethernet-enabled AutoMax operating system has been loaded.
