About the DC1-21
The DC1-21 is a voltage controller that belongs to the DC1 Drive family manufactured by Reliance Electric. Within the Reliance DC1 Drive system, the DC1-21 voltage controller converts the single-phase line power (AC) into DC power. This DC output is adjustable and specifically for an adjustable speed armature control of shunt wound. It is also compatible with all permanent DC motors with similar horsepower ratings. It has a rated horsepower of 0.25 to 2-HP. It requires an AC Input ranging from 115 to 230-Volt AC with a maximum of 12.5-amps. The DC1-21 has a rated power frequency of 50/60-hertz, on which it is operable without modification with either frequency. This voltage has a DC output of 90/180-Volts when operating with a maximum of 10-amps. Its DC field voltage is rated at 50/100-Volts at a maximum of 2-amps. This particular controller comes in the open chassis configuration. With this configuration, the user should install the DC1-21 controller within an electrical controller within their existing system.
Like all DC1 drive controllers, the DC1-21 is equipped with a run/stop control, line transient protection, unidirectional operation, and motor overload protection. The short circuit system has an RMS ratio of 5,000 amps. This line transient protection utilizes a metal oxide varistor. The unidirectional operation also features coast-to-rest on stop and the motor overload protection utilizes the internal motor thermostat. Additionally, the DC1 controllers all have a full-wave, half-controlled armature rectifier with a back diode. This feature is standard and improves the form factor. If the user wishes to use a remote start and stop control, the controller does have available provisions.
