Reliance Electric manufactures DC1-40C, a basic speed control controller that is part of the DC1 controller series. This open chassis controller is a special customer model. The speed is controlled by the armature voltage regulation or by the motor mounted D-C tachometer. The controller features a potentiometer motor speed adjustment, independently adjustable maximum and minimum speeds, fixed rate acceleration, an adjustable current limit, jumper selectable armature voltage feedback scaling at 90 or 180 volts, and an adjustable IR drop compensation.
All controller models feature 50 or 60 cycle power without modification, remote start and/or remote stop, an internal motor thermostat for motor overload protection, an incoming line fuse for short circuit protection, unidirectional operation with coast-to-rest stop, armature current scaling by reconnectable jumper for horsepower rating, and finally either 115 volt or 230 volt A-C line power. The user may not operate the controller unless the user is qualified electrical personnel.
The A-C line frequency is 48 to 62 Hz. The controller is rated by the associated motor horsepower. The continuous duty controller has a service factor of 1.0. The ambient temperature for open chassis models such as DC1-40C must be 0° to 55° C. The displacement power factor at rated speed and rated load is 70%. It takes 6 plus or minus 2 seconds for the acceleration to ramp up to the maximum speed. The speed/voltage limit is 40 to 110% of the base speed. The torque control adjustment is 10% to 150% of the rated motor torque.
