About the DC1-60U
The basic speed control controller DC1-60 is a DC1 Reliance Electric NEMA/UL 12K enclosed controller. For the armature feedback, the line voltage is 0.1% (plus or minus 10%), the 95% load change is 2-5% (this is dependent upon specific motor characteristics and IR drop compensation), the regulated speed range is 20:1, and the temperature is 1.0% (plus or minus 10° C. Do not attempt to install this controller unless you are qualified electrical personnel with professional knowledge of the equipment.
Before installing the controller, remove the cover and inspect the controller for physical damage. The controller must be installed in an area with unrestricted ventilation. Mounting vertically allows for proper circulation of heat, considering that this unit is heat-producing. Keep at least 4” of space above the controller for the fuse cap. Power and control wiring must be routed through the conduit openings in the bottom of the controller. Make sure there are no live electrical circuits in the area above the controller in order to avoid accidental contact when accessing the fuse. The controller must be mounted upright in a vertical position.
Using the Reliance metal hub, seal the conduit entries of the NEMA enclosed controller. Then install the motor by ensuring that coupled applications have proper shaft alignment with the driven machine or that belted applications have proper sheave/belt alignment to minimize unnecessary motor loading. Next, install a disconnect on the controller. Wire the drive by following the user manual instructions on connecting grounding conductors.
