About the DC1-70G
DC1-70G is manufactured by Reliance Electric as part of their DC1 controller series. The controller includes basic speed controls and operator controls. Pay attention to the danger alerts (high voltage/motor rotation present), the warning alerts (potential bodily injury), and the caution alerts (potential equipment damage) present in the controller user manual. This controller is NEMA/UL 12K enclosed. In order to provide a compact controller/motor package, the controller is specifically matched to the Reliance D-C Motor. The Run/Stop Switch replacement part is 49869-17A, and the Speed Pot replacement part is 401286-41H.
One printed circuit board contains all of the controller’s regulator circuitry. One power cube contains all of the controller’s thyristors and diodes (power conversion components). The controller must be serviced with the power on. Proceed with extreme caution where hazardous voltage exists. Failure to proceed with caution may result in equipment damage, bodily injury, and/or loss of life.
If the controller’s motor does not rotate, there are many possible causes. The current feedback jumper may be set lower than the applied motor horsepower. The motor thermostat may be open. There may be a faulty, misconnected, or miscalibrated reference signal. The manual speed or torque potentiometer may be open or faulty. The ground wiring may be faulty or incorrect. An incoming line fuse may be blown and/or the upstream protection devices may be open. Finally, there may be an open circuit between terminals 132 and 35. Follow the corrective action table in the user manual, which details potential faults and corrective solutions.
