About the DC1-71G
Reliance Electric manufactures DC1-71G, a DC1 drive controller. The speed control adjustment ranges on this controller are a maximum speed that is 50 to 100% of the motor base speed with the speed setting pot at its maximum setting; a minimum speed that is 10 to 50% of the motor base speed with the speed setting pot at its minimum setting; a current limit of 20 to 150% of the rated base speed; an IR drop compensation of 0 to 10% at rated armature voltage; speed regulation characteristics; and acceleration ramp time to the maximum speed: 6 seconds plus or minus 2 seconds (other times are available by changing capacitors). The isolated process follower input has a maximum speed of 50 to 100% with the reference at the maximum, and a minimum speed of 0 to 10% with the reference at the minimum.
In order to install the controller, remove the cover and inspect for any physical damage. Please report any shipping damage to the carrier of the equipment. The controller must be installed in an area where it will have unrestricted ventilation. Allow for unrestricted air flow over the rear cooling fans and the sides of the controller’s heatsink. To access the fuse cap, allow at least 4” above the controller. With flat plate designs, allow 1” around the controller for service access. In order to meet the 1 HP at 115 VAC and the 2 HP at 230 VAC specifications, an 18” by 18” steel plate is required. The ambient temperatures for enclosed controllers such as DC1-71G must be 0-55° C. Keep the area above the controller free of live electrical circuits. Failure to follow this precaution may result in accidental contact when accessing the fuse.
