About the DC2-40UF
DC2-40UF is a DC2 controller that is manufactured by Reliance Electric. This unit offers speed control features and jog functions. The basic controller features include A-C line power, 50 or 60 cycle power without modification; full-wave, half-controlled armature voltage rectifier with a back diode for improved armature form factor; a half-wave field supply for shunt wound D-C motors; an incoming line fuse for optional short circuit protection; an internal motor thermostat for motor overload protection; and provisions for remote start, remote stop, and/or remote run/jog.
The speed control features for certain models, including this one, include speed control by armature voltage regulation or motor mounted D-C tachometer, motor speed adjustment by potentiometer, separately adjustable minimum and maximum speeds, independently adjustable rates, an adjustable current limit, adjustable IR drop compensation, and jumper selectable armature voltage feedback scaling at 90 or 180 volts.
If the motor does not rotate, an incoming line fuse may be blown, and/or upstream protection devices may be open. Check the upstream equipment for possible cause and correct. If necessary, replace the blown fuse. There may also be an open or faulty manual speed or torque potentiometer. Check the pot wiring and the operation of the potentiometers and correct. A motor that will not rotate may also have a faulty, misconnected, or miscalibrated reference signal. Check for proper polarity and check the jumper for proper calibration. Correct as necessary.
