The DC2-50U is a Single-Phase ¼-2HP 50/60Hz DC2 V*S controller. This model is primarily used for speed control. This controller is in an open/plate-style chassis. This controller has to be mounted onto an 18”x18” metal plate so that it can meet the 1HP @115 VAC and 2HP @230 VAC ratings. Alternatively, you can purchase an optional heatsink to make these ratings valid.  

The DC2-50U has a few basic controller features common for all of the DC2 drives. It has an internal thermostat that monitors motor overload. It has a coast-to-rest stop option. It has a metal oxide varistor and RC circuit that offers line protection. It has a fuse line that provides optional short circuit protection. It has an unmodified power cycle that is 50 or 60Hz. For shunt-wound DC motors, this device provides a half-wave field supply.

Being a speed control specific drive, the DC2-50U has additional features specific to this type of drive. It has an IR drop compensation that is adjustable. It has adjustable current limits and maximum and minimum speeds. It uses a potentiometer to make speed adjustments to the motor. The motor is speed controlled by an armature voltage regulator or using a motor mounted DC tachometer
