About the DC2-74U

The DC2-74U Reliance Variable Speed controller is a single-phase DC motor controller.  AX Control has many of these units available in our inventory.   DC2 controllers are compatible with a wide variety of Reliance DC motors and convert AC mains power to adjustable DC for better speed and torque control.   This unit can be used with 115 V or 230 V inputs.  At 115 VAC the unit will produce 1 HP 90 VDC.  At 230 VAC it will produce 2 HP 180 VDC. 

The DC2-74U offers several options that enhance the unit’s functionality.  Improved armature form factor can be attributed to the unit’s full-wave, half-controlled armature voltage rectifier and associated back diode.   This half-wave field should make this unit compatible with most shunt wound DC motors, but check your motor manual to ensure compatibility.     The DC2-74U is a unidirectional controller with coast-to-rest stop, capable of remote run, jog, start, and stop. 

The DC2-74U includes both torque and process control.  It is built within a NEMA 12 enclosure.   It should be used in locations where humidity remains between 5 to 95%, non-condensing, in temperatures between 32 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Fast, extreme swings in temperature may cause condensation to form that can damage the controller.
