Product Description

The Reliance Electric DC2-90U is a single phase, continuous duty DC motor controller. This Reliance DC motor compatible unit converts AC power into adjustable DC power. This conversion allows for better control of the outputted torque and speed. A reconnectable AC power line allows the controller to input both 115 and 230 Volts. Outputted voltage and horsepower depends on the inputted AC voltage, with 115 VAC outputting 90 VCD and 1.0 horsepower and 230 VAC outputting 180 VCD and 2.0 horsepower.

Machine functionality of DC2-90U is enhanced through multiple included mechanical features. Motor overload is preventable through an internal thermostat, while unidirectional operation allows a coast-to-rest stop function. A remote start, stop, run, and jog feature is included as well. Shunt wound DC motors have a usable supply created by a half-wave field. A back diode paired with a full-wave, half-controlled armature voltage rectifier improves armature form factor.

With extra process controls offered, a variety of speed control functions are incorporated into DC2-90U. Integrated into the system, speed control functionality can be controlled independently. Current limits are adjustable, as well as separately setting minimum and maximum speeds. Both a potentiometer motor speed adjustment and a motor mounted DC tachometer are available as speed control options. An armature voltage regulation system also allows for operator controlled speed control.

DC2-90U is suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation as a NEMA 4/4X/12 enclosure houses it. This enclosure is more substantial, allowing the controller protection from a variety of harsher conditions, including inclement weather, spraying water, and solid foreign objects.
