About the DC2-92U
The Reliance Electric DC2-92U is a single phase DC motor controller. A continuous duty controller, this unit is compatible with Reliance DC motors. A reconnectable AC power line supports different voltages, allowing for a conversion to adjustable DC power. Inputting 115 VAC outputs 90 VDC and 1.0 horsepower, while inputting 230 VAC outputs 180 VDC and 2.0 horsepower.
Integrated controller systems improve the operational interface and usability of the unit. A back diode paired with a full-wave, half-controlled armature voltage rectifier improves the controller's armature form factor. A usable supply for shunt wound DC motors generates from a half-wave field. An internal thermostat prevents motor overload, while unidirectional operation allows for a coast-to-stop rest function. An optional remote start, stop, run, and jog feature further promotes an easier interface experience.
A number of speed control options are integrated into DC2-92U. Both manual and automatic modes are available through an isolated process control interface. When selected with the switch, manual mode controls motor speed via a potentiometer. When selecting automatic mode, motor speed is controlled by a process control output signal. An armature voltage regulation system can also be used to control motor speed. A motor mounted tachometer is available to make adjustments to motor speed as well. The operator can adjust current limits independently, while also being able to adjust the minimum and maximum speeds separately.
Encased in a NEMA 4/4X/12 enclosure, the controller is suitable for indoor and outdoor installation. Being housed in a more substantial covering, this unit is designed to withstand much harsher environmental conditions including freezing weather, splashing water, and heavy winds.
