About the DC2-93U

The DC2-93U from Reliance Electric functions as a continuous duty single-phase Direct Current (DC) motor controller.  This unit is compatible with Reliance DC motors and converts incoming AC power into usable DC.  This allows for better control of the outgoing speed and torque.   This unit can function with either 115 or 230 input power.  Output is dependent on this input and will vary from 1.0 HP to 2.0 HP.  At 115 VAC the unit will have a 90-volt armature and a 50-volt field supply.  At 230 V, the unit will have a 180-volt armature and a 100-volt field supply. 

The DC2-93U offers motor overload protection through an internal thermostat.   This unit does not have dynamic braking and instead offers unidirectional operation with a coast-to-rest function.   The armature form factor is improved by a diode and a full-wave armature voltage rectifier. 

This unit also offers motor speed adjustment and operator-controlled speed control.  Line transients are dampened via a mounted metal oxide varistor.  Additionally, the unit has auxiliary form C contact for run indication. 

The unit is designed for operation in conditions between 32 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit where the relative humidity remains between 5 and 95%, non-condensing.  The surrounding NEMA enclosure will protect the unit from splashing or seeping water.  Conduit hubs offer a water-tight connection.  However, this unit is rated for indoor use only and should not be used outdoors.
