About the DC2-97U
The Reliance Electric DC2-97U is a single phase DC motor controller. Compatible with Reliance DC motors, this continuous duty controller converts AC power into adjustable DC power. Dual supported input voltages are supplied via a reconnectable AC power line. An input of 115 VAC produces 1.0 horsepower and 90 VDC, while an input of 230 VAC produces 2.0 horsepower and 180 VDC.
Integrated controller systems improve the functionality and interface of the unit. Armature form factor improvements are supported by a full-wave, half-controlled armature voltage rectifier interacting with an included back diode. A half-wave field creates a usable supply for shunt wound DC motors. Unidirectional operation features a coast-to-rest stop feature, while an internal thermostat prevents motor overload. Remote stop, start, run, and jog are also featured on DC2-97U.
Offering added process control, the controller offers embedded speed control functions. Using the selector switch, an isolated process control interface features a manual and automatic mode. Motor speed adjustments are performed by a process control output while set in automatic mode. Manual mode motor speed adjustments are instead performed by a potentiometer. Motor speed can also be adjusted via a mounted DC tachometer as well as an armature voltage regulation system. The control operator can adjust current limits as well as the minimum and maximum speeds.
Indoor and outdoor usage is available as DC2-97U is protected by a NEMA 4/4X/12 enclosure. A heavier duty enclosure, the controller can be stored in a variety of harsh conditions. Ambient environmental temperature should be maintained between 0℃ to 40℃, or 32℉ to 104℉. All safety and installation protocols can be found in the Reliance Electric series manual.
