About the DC3R-12D-4X-010-DN
DC3R-12D-4X-010-DN is a Reliance Electric DC3 series regenerative drive. “4X” means that the drive is contained in a NEMA 12/4/4x enclosure. “DN” means that the drive can include following features: jog, cyclic reversing by limit-switches, and independent forward/reverse speed pots. The drive also includes separate potentiometers for minimum and maximum speed, forward and reverse torque, forward and reverse acceleration, IR drop compensation, deadband compensation, and tachometer feedback. The instruction manual for this drive is D2-3453. This unit does not require an additional heat sink. Reliance Electric drives are CE compliant.
Regenerative drives operate in 4 quadrants, wherein motor torque runs in the opposite direction of motor rotation. Without contactors, switches, brake resistors, or inhibit plugs, regenerative drives can reverse a motor. They can also control an overhauling load and decelerate a load faster than it would take to coast to a lower speed. Many troubleshooting problems are covered in the user manual, including a motor that will not reach the desired speed, a motor that runs too fast, a motor that does not run when the line fuse has not blown, a motor that pulses or surges under a load, a line fuse that has blown, etc. Before troubleshooting the drive, check that the AC line voltage matches the voltage on the drive nameplate. Also check that the line fuse is properly sized and that all terminal connections are consistent with the connections shown in the user manual. Do not troubleshoot the equipment when AC power is applied.
