About the 0-51879-1
0-51879-1--PGAB Gate Amplifier Circuit Board
The 0-51879-1 is a circuit board component fabricated for use within various drives by Reliance Electric. Due to various mergers and changes, the board you are replacing may have been manufactured by Reliance Electric, Baldor-Reliance, or by ABB, also known as Asea Brown Boveri. The part number is the same.
The 0-51879-1 is a PGAB Gate Amplifier board. The PCB is fronted by a silver-colored faceplate with four (female) plug connectors located one above each other along its right edge. These plugs are labeled C10 through C13. The front panel also includes the board number. The faceplate connects to the main circuit board via three screws.
The 0-51879-1 is populated by six transformers mounted in frames. A bipolar transistor is located to one side of each transformer and is attached via a surface wired connection. Other components on the board surface include diodes, disk capacitors, carbon composite resistors, and capacitors of other materials. One large aluminum electrolytic capacitor uses a zip tie to connect it to the board for extra support. The back edge of the board is designed as a protruding tail. This tail is populated by multiple conductive tabs. It acts as a backplane connector for the board. The board’s surface is marked in a grid pattern. One of the grid’s axes is marked by numbers and the other is marked by letters. Components are not marked by reference designators. If more information about components is needed, please refer to publications originally distributed by Reliance, such as manuals, user guides, and data sheets. These publications will also provide information on installation procedures.
