0-51893-3 FCCD Field Exciter Controller Module

The 0-51893-3  is a Field Exciter Controller module manufactured by Reliance Electric for use within their drive systems.  There are several versions of the Field Controller available within this series of boards; please verify before ordering which version is needed.  Reliance components typically carry the Reliance logo. However, in some cases, these components may be notated as coming from Baldor-Reliance or from ABB.  The 51893-3 part number remains the same in each case.

The 0-51893-3 has a single board component but is a multi-case component.  The module has a front faceplate that is populated with a terminal strip with twelve screw connections.   This strip has its own black perforated cover strip that connects to the faceplate using two screw connections.  Wires extend through the faceplate using an opening placed to the right of the terminal strip. Wires are typically black in color.   Only four of the screw connections are labeled. Labels include 181, 182, F1 and F2. The faceplate has two set screws to lock the module into a rack system.  It also has three tabs with drill holes located on its left edge to allow for alternate mounting.

The faceplate connects to a second metal housing via screw connections and standoffs.  There is a large open gap between these two components. An opening in the second housing allows wires to pass through.  The board component of the module is screw mounted to the inside of this metal housing. This small square board has several stab-on connectors and four metal oxide varistors (MOVs.) There are no other components. Several of the previously mentioned wires are designed to attach to these stab-on connectors.
