About the DM-30D
The DM-30D is a 30HP brushless servo drive from series BRU-200 that has d-shell connections. This drive was designed by Reliance Electric and possibly sold by ABB and/or Baldor Reliance depending on its production dates. This drive is now a legacy series part and may be difficult to find.
The DM-30D contains several external components on its faceplate that are essential to the proper functioning of the drive. It has a terminal strip that can wire into the motor and other I/O devices. There is another terminal strip on the top of the faceplate labeled external shunt. It has a series of three RS-232 connection ports that are labeled P1 controller, P2 motor encoder, and P3 serial. The faceplate has 4 small LED indicators on the top left side of the faceplate that will glow green when the device is functioning and then red when there are errors present. It has a fan that is visible on the bottom of the chassis that is responsible for helping to ensure proper airflow is reaching the internal components.
The DM-30D should be mounted vertically to a panel or to a similar flat-surface. It should be stored in an inside location away from corrosive materials and liquids. It is advised that no other drive or device be mounted directly below or above this drive. On the back of the drive are two factory-drilled holes that are on the top mounting bracket. This bracket, along with two washers and bolts, can be used to firmly secure the drive to the panel.
