About the BRU-500-PSM-125
Reliance Electric created the BRU-500-PSM-125 as a Power Supply for BRU-500 series drives and Electro-Craft motors. It is classified as a replacement module. There is a possibility that it was also produced by ABB and Baldor Reliance.
The BRU-500-PSM-125 has the power necessary to supply DC power directly to as many as six drive modules (servo or spindle). It is featured in the AutoMax SA-500 series. The AC voltage going into the BRU-500-PSM-125 is 3-Phase and isolated. The output coming from the power supply is a two-wire DC bus that can be connected and daisy-chained to the drive modules. This power supply has the ability to provide its own internal diagnostics. The power module has the ability to reduce the AC inrush currents using built-in solid-state DC bus capacitors. It also can also discharge the DC bus capacitors using the built-in dissipative shunt regulators. It sometimes can double as an emergency motor dynamic brake.
There are limited external components on the BRU-500-PSM-125. The four LED indicators are located on the center-right edge of the faceplate. They are labeled overtemp, PSM ready, phase loss, and disabled. The PSM ready LED is the only one that is green, the others are red. Slightly below the LEDs is a tiny terminal strip that has been labeled TB1. On the base of the module is a double fan assembly that works to keep the power supply’s internal components from overheating. This module has the ability to be mounted onto a flat panel-like surface.
