About the DM-50

The DM-50 is a model of the BRU-500 series of 3-Phase Brushless Servo Drives. This drive was originally produced by Reliance Electric but may have also been manufactured by Baldor Reliance and/or ABB. None of these manufacturers support this legacy series part anymore and it has become a little hard to find. AX Control tries to keep it in stock as a refurbished or new surplus stock part.

The DM-50 is a 50 amp 120/240 VAC 170/340 VDC 50/60Hz servo drive. It is meant to be a way to supply control and power to a drive motor. The manufacturer suggests that this drive uses either an F-Series or S-series style Electro-Craft motor. The motors within those series are the F-4050, F-6100, F-4075, S-4050, S-6100, and the S-4075. This drive has a maximum watt loss of 180W. It has a 50A dive peak amps and a continuous amperage of 40A. It can maintain a bus voltage of 125/375 VDC (325 VDCs if using a 230 VAC input).

The DM-50 weighs 11 kilograms. It is in an enclosure that should be mounted vertically onto a very flat surface. It should be mounted in an inside location away from corrosive materials and liquids. The faceplate on this chassis does not have a lot of external components. It has four LED lights that are red and green. These will glow when either there is an error detected in the system or if the drive is working as it should be. There is a series of 6 connection ports on the faceplate. These ports are labeled alphanumerically with P1-P6 and with what type of connection they are.
