About the PSM-50ES
The PSM-50ES is a Power Supply Module for a BRU-500 series drive and motor. It was created in the AutoMax SA-500 series. This power supply was initially designed by Reliance Electric and was probably also sold by ABB and Baldor Reliance depending on its manufacturing dates.
The PSM-50ES is 88-256 VAC RMS 3-Phase and 50/60 Hz. It can sustain a 5 kiloamp short circuit rating and an output voltage of 125-375 VDCs. It has a DC continuous amperage of 50A and maximum peak amperage of 150A. It has a continuous power shunt rating of 600 watts. It has a peak shunt power of 20 kilowatts. This power supply weighs roughly 11.9 kg.
When mounting the PSM-50ES it should be located centrally so that it can be equidistant to the drive modules. The higher the current rating for the drives, the closer it needs to be to the power supply. This module should be vertically mounted to a flat surface like a panel. There are brackets on the back of the power supply that have factory-drilled holes. These holes in conjunction with bolts and washers are used to help secure the power supply to the panel. It is important for the drives and the power supply to have proper spacing to prevent the system from overheating. This system should not be located in an outdoor environment. Liquids, corrosive and combustible materials should also be avoided with this power supply. There is a double fan assembly that is located on the base of the power supply. It is responsible for ensuring that air is flowing to the internal power supply components to keep it from overheating.
