About the 30FR4032
30FR4032 is a 30 horsepower regenerative drive manufactured by Reliance Electric as a part of their FlexPak 3000 series. This drive has a 460 VAC and can be converted into a 230 VAC with the 916FK0100 conversion kit. After conversion, the horsepower will be cut in half to 15 HP. The software version number is 3 and the drive is UL listed.
Setting up the drive requires qualified electrical personnel that are professionally familiar with the construction and operation of this equipment and the hazards involved. In order to test the equipment, the user requires a volt-ohmmeter with a sensitivity of 20,000 ohms per volt. A Triplett Model 630 or a Simpson 260 are two examples of volt-ohmmeters that may be used. With the power off, inspect the drive and modification kits for possible physical damage or improper connections. The wiring to the drive must be bare wire in order to make a sufficient electrical connection. Shorts or safety hazards may result from exposed conductors if an excessive length of insulation is removed.
Perform a motor ground check, for which you may use a megohmmeter. All conductors between the motor and the drive must be disconnected. The megohmmeter’s high voltage can damage the drive’s electronic circuits. Per the motor instruction manual, the D-C motor frame and conduit box should be connected to earth ground. There must be no path to ground in either the D-C motor armature circuit, the shunt field circuit or the thermostat circuit. If a ground condition exists, it must be corrected before power is applied.
