About the 909FK0031

909FK0031 is a Dynamic Braking Kit that is made by Reliance Electric as a part of their FlexPak 3000 series. This 460 VAC kit has a rated horsepower of 3. In an uncontrolled process, dynamic braking slows down the DC motor from its rotating speed to a complete stop. The motor armature is disconnected from the drive while dynamic braking is being applied. The current that results from placing a resistor across the motor’s rotating armature (now acting as a generator) causes braking torque in the motor that decays exponentially with the motor’s counter-EMF. Even when the drive has failed, the motor will decelerate.
