About the 912FK0250
Model 912FK0250 is a Dynamic Braking Kit for 230 VAC FlexPak 3000 Digital DC Drives without NEMA 1 enclosures manufactured by Reliance Electric. The associated drive horsepower for this kit is 25 HP. This kit includes a contactor, a suppressor, a resistor assembly, and an enclosure. The dynamic braking process is not controlled by software. Instead, a command or drive fault initiates the process by closing the DB contactor. The DB resistor then connects across A1 and A2 of the motor armature, which creates a generator that causes braking torque in the motor. The DB resistor then absorbs energy, and the temperature goes up.
The purpose of the 912FK0250 model, when used alongside the FlexPak 3000 drives, is to provide different hardware types, such as braking grids. The braking grids on the model are to provide dynamic braking upon stop of the associated FlexPak 3000 drive. As mentioned above, the horsepower for this kit is 25 HP; when the motor on the FlexPak 3000 drive is running normally, the DB contactor, which is typically closed, will be open, and the dynamic braking resistor/dynamic braking grid will be disconnected from the drive and motor. The dynamic braking of the 912FK0250 model is used to slow down the rapidly rotating DC motor as well as its full load when the motor has been disconnected from the drive.
There are two associated manuals when using the 912FK0250 model. One is the D2-3404-2 manual, which focuses on how the 912FK0250 model will be used in conjunction with the FlexPak 3000 models. The other is the D2-3374-4 manual, which focuses on the technical data and specifications of the 912FK0250 and how it is used.
