About the 14C216
14C216 is a Dynamic Braking Resistor designed for single-phase FlexPak Plus or MinPak Plus drives. This part is manufactured by Rockwell Automation.
The specifications of 14C216 are a 0.5-1.5 and 5 Horse Power rating at 230 VAC. This resistor is part of the Dynamic Braking kit, which allows single-phase FlexPak Plus and MinPak Plus DC drives to provide a quick and smooth stopping of the motor. It is important to remember that the dynamic brake will not hold the motor shaft in place or prevent the motor from turning, as it is not a mechanical holding brake. The Dynamic Braking kit includes a resistor that is automatically switched across the motor’s armature when the drive is stopped.
To install the kit in a FlexPak Plus DC Drive, disconnect, lock out, and tag input power to the drive. Remove the drive cover. Then mount the drive. Follow the manual instructions with regard to installing regenerative drives and non-regenerative drives without a reversing contactor, versus installing non-regenerative drives with a reversing contactor. Verify the wiring of the Dynamic Braking resistor and that all connectors are securely fastened and reattach the cover to the drive. Lastly, apply power and test the braking capability of the drive.
To install the kit in a MinPak Plus DC Drive, disconnect, lock out, and tag input power to the drive. Then remove the drive cover. Mount the drive with the two mounting screws provided. Follow the manual instructions with regard to installing regenerative drives and non-regenerative drives without a reversing contactor, versus installing non-regenerative drives with a reversing contactor. Verify the wiring of the Dynamic Braking resistor and make sure that all connectors are securely fastened. Reattach the terminal barrier and circuit breaker mounting bracket, and reattach the cover to the drive. Apply power and test the braking capability of the drive.
