Reliance Electric manufactures the FlexPak Plus series of 1000 ohms D-C controllers, which includes 14C303U.

14C303U has an A-C (RMS) rating of 34 amperes. The ampere maximum of 5 must only be used for field excitation, because of the nature of field loss protective circuitry. The power supply capacity is 5000. This controller has a Horse Power of 20, a VAC of 230 at 60 Hz, and a D-C field rating of 300 volts. The transformer has a rated KVA between 6 and 30, and also a maximum KVA between 30 and 145. Because the control logic sequences the contractor and the control relay on the regulator, current flow through the main contactor is never broken in normal operation by the contracts.

Inspect the controller with the power off before starting it up. Next, to assure that no damaging grounds exist within, check the drive motor. Then power on the controller and make adjustments to the regulator module pots. These pots include maximum and minimum speed, acceleration and deceleration rate, IR drop compensation, and current limit.

Check if the A-C line voltage is correct for your controller when troubleshooting A-C line problems. If there are motor problems, recheck all motor connections for firmness and correct identification. If the load on the drive motor is too large or has too high an inertia, follow manual instructions to troubleshoot mechanical issues with the controller.
