About the 14C83
Reliance Electric manufactures the Flexpak Plus series. Contained within this series is 14C83, a Basic Single-Phase D-C controller.
This controller has a horse power of 5, a VAC of 230, and a power supply capacity of 5000. The transformer has a minimum of 10.0 kVA and a maximum of 40.0 kVA. The D-C armature is 180 volts and an average of 25.0 amperes. The optional D-C Field is 200 volts. The A-C (RMS) is 35.0 amperes and the optional maximum is 3.0 amperes.
As a complete controller, 14C83 includes an auxiliary panel. A wide range of modification kits are available to broaden the application range of the basic controller. These kits are pre-engineered and plug into the basic controller via specific circuits.
Although a megger may be used for the motor ground check test, if one is used, all conductors between the drive motor and the FlexPak Plus controller are to be disconnected and moved aside. The megger's high voltage can cause damage to the controller's circuits. If the circuit breaker has tripped or fuses have cleared, the user must determine if a field supply kit is present. Inspect the field supply kit and its wiring for damage. Once power is re-applied to the drive, check the field voltage for proper voltage at motor terminals F1 and F2. If this voltage is below 90% of the field voltage specified on the motor nameplate, do not start the drive until proper voltage is obtained. Please refer to the manual associated with 14C83 for further instructions on installation and danger warnings.
