Product Description

The 896.18.80, which is also known as 125R4160, is a 380-460 VAC 100-150HP AC Drive by Reliance Electric. It was possibly also mass-produced by ABB or Baldor Reliance at one point during its production years.

The 896.18.80 was produced under the GV3000/SE series as version 6.06 of this drive. It is a PWM that has the ability to control the vector or volts/hertz regulation. It can provide power and control to the motor it is assigned to. It has an input of 210A 50/60HZ. It has an output of 0-200 Hz 210A @ 2kHz V/Hz and 152A @ 2kHz vector. It has a system rating of 10kA for short circuits.

The 896.18.80 is protected by a very large type 1/IP20 NEMA enclosure. There are air circulation vents on the sides and front of the enclosure. It has 6 spots on the bottom where cables can be attached to the drive. Behind those connections are two very large external fan assemblies. These fans are in charge of making sure the internal components don’t overheat. There are internal fans that also help prevent overheating. There are brackets on the sides and bottom of the chassis that are there for mounting purposes. It is advised to install this drive vertically onto a metallic surface. It is not advisable to operate this drive horizontally on the floor. This drive is only meant for indoor applications. On the front panel of the drive is a small door where the user can access an RS-232 port. Just above that port is a built-in keypad.

Frequently Asked Questions about 896.18.80

How many input amps does 896.18.80 have?
896.18.80 has 159 input amps when 896.18.80 is at vector regulation. 896.18.80 has 213 input amps when 896.18.80 is at V/Hz regulation.
How do I select the source of the analog output signal on a reliance 896.18.80?
Parameter P.012 on 896.18.80 is the parameter for 896.18.80 that selects the source of the analog output signal on 896.18.80. Parameter P.012 is identified as the Terminal Strip Analog Output Source Parameter. This parameter has a parameter range of: 0= speed (bipolar), 1 = torque (bipolar), 2= speed (unipolar), and 3= speed (unipolar at V/Hz) or torque (unipolar at vector) on a reliance 896.18.80. The default parameter setting is 0 for 896.18.80.
What is the cause of an HU fault code on 896.18.80?
Fault code error "HU," or a high DC bus voltage fault, is caused by DC bus voltage too high on 896.18.80 (capacitor protection) or 896.18.80's deceleration time being too short. If DC bus voltage being too high on 896.18.80 is creating the fault, check input line voltage to correct the fault on 896.18.80 and you may need to add a transformer to 896.18.80. If the fault is caused by short deceleration time on 896.18.80, increase deceleration time with parameter P.002, parameter P.018, or parameter P.023 versus Maximum Speed/Hz (parameter P.004). To correct this fault, you may also need to install DB option with resistors on 896.18.80.
