About the 3RR2015
Reliance Electric manufactures 3RR2015, a DC Snubber Resistor that is part of the HR2000 series. This part has a controller horsepower of 15 HP. The power dissipation for the continuous duty is 2250 watts. For the intermittent duty, the instantaneous power dissipation is 24000 watts and the maximum duty cycle (% of time) is 9%. This snubber resistor increases the percentage of total time that the controller is decelerating.
The 3RR2015 is an optional feature of the HR2000 series that is part of the continuous braking power/intermittent braking applications. D-C snubber resistors limit the deceleration time to the shortest possible. The snubber resistor may throw a LED fault (UV) which indicates an undervoltage state. It may also throw an OV LED fault that means the external snubber resistance is too large.
