About the 3SM2000
3SM2000 is a speed meter that is meant to be mounted separately from its series HR2000 controller, which is also available for purchase on our website, axcontrol.com. HR2000 controllers consist of Brushless AC servo controllers and motors. These controllers consist of a single board hybrid based regulator, remote fault contact, and precise speed control from base speed down to zero speed. The SM in 3SM2000 stands for Speed and Meter. Reliance Electric manufactures 3SM2000, but it can also appear as manufactured under Baldor. Speed meter or tachometer, 3SM2000, indicates the HR2000 controller’s output speed (150-0-150%). The controller’s NEMA 1 enclosure is where this meter can be found.
3SM2000 is a 1 HP 7 Amp rating input disconnect kit that usually displays the revolutions per minute (RPM). Essentially, the words tachometer and speedometer have similar meanings: a device that measures speed. However, they do differ from each other in a fundamental way. 3SM2000 tachometer measures the speed of the controller (engine), unlike a speedometer (in your car) that measures the speed of your vehicle. 3SM2000 series works on the tachometer generator principle, which means that it produces the voltage according to the velocity of the shaft when a motor is operated. It can also be called a revolution-counter.
Warning: When connecting the 3SM2000 tachometer to the controller, be sure to check the polarity of the 3SM2000 connections. If incorrectly connected, it could lead to hazardous speed that could result in bodily injury or equipment damage.
