About the DBRU-1-120
The DBRU-1-120 is a Dynamic Braking Kit produced by Reliance Electric. It may have been previously manufactured by ASEA BROWN BOVERI and Baldor Reliance. This part has since been discontinued by the manufacturers and is considered to be an obsolete part. The DBRU-1-120 has a few other product numbers it is associated with including, DBR-1/120 and 3DB-1004. This kit is meant to function with the HR-2000 series of high-performance motors and servo applications.
The DBRU-1-120 is a dynamic braking kit which means that it slows down the motor it’s attached to beyond what it slows down through normal coasting. Dynamic braking should be done with caution because it produces a lot of heat and torque. This kit is needed to be mounted directly to the bottom of the controller. A thermostat comes with this kit to prevent it from overheating and is connected to the resistors. If the thermostat detects overheating in the system, it will trip the circuit breaker for the system. Output contactors and DB resistors come standard with this kit. This kit is 1-4 volts and its contractor coil voltage is 120VAC. Control logic is not included in this model.
