About the 8C11
Reliance Electric is the maker of the 8C11. When installing this controller keep in mind that the National Electrical Code does require that a two pole, fused disconnection switch is installed on the incoming AC line ahead of the drive. The fuses should be either a dual element, a slow blow type or a Class K5. The disconnection switch should be within clear view of the maintenance personnel and the machine operators for safety and easy access. An open style switch with provisions for a padlock is recommended. This controller is designed to use Tachometer input wires, AC and DC power entry at the top of the controller and a control and signal wiring to enter from the bottom of the controller. The Reference signal wiring should be kept and run in a separate steel conduit that is isolated from all AC and DC power and control lines. All the reference signals need to be wired with either twisted double or triple twisted conductor wire with two twits per inch, with stranded copper, AWG No. 16, 600VAC rated, poly-vinyl chloride insulation, with a temperature range of forty degrees to one hundred and five degrees Celsius (40 - 105°) or one hundred and four degrees to two hundred and twenty-two degrees Fahrenheit (104 - 221°F). The signal wires should not run parallel with electrically noisy or high voltage conductors. Always cross these types of conductors at ninety degrees. Refer to Reliance Electrics instruction manual for this drive.
