About the 14C33
Reliance Electric manufactures 14C33, which is part of the MinPak Plus line of Enclosed D-C controllers.
The D-C armature for this controller is 180 volts and averages 25 amperes. 5000 is the power supply capacity, and the horsepower is rated at 5. 14C33 has a transformer full load kVA of 10.0 and a transformer max kVA per phase of 40. 230 is the VAC, and the optional maximum is 3.0 amperes. The D-C armature is 180 volts and the A-C (RMS) is 35.0 amperes. The optional D-C field is 200 volts.
Before wiring the controller, make sure the A-C line disconnect switch is locked open. Even if power has not been applied to the incoming line, this practice insures personal safety. Remove the fuses with an insulated tool if no lockout device exists. Then place a warning tag on the box. Always refer to the user manual for all danger warnings related to electrical risks associated with setting up and operating this controller.
After wiring the controller, begin start-up and adjustment. Make a superficial inspection of the controller and its associated units with the power off. Then inspect the firmness of motor connections. Because conductor grounding could cause damage, there should be no broken insulation on the power cables. There must be a formal installation and wiring inspection before any start-up procedures are followed.
Follow user manual guidelines for set-up, adjustments, and theory of operation. There are also many modification kits available for enclosed D-C controllers. Exact pin alignment is essential between the controller and any modification kit.
