About the 50006-2R
The 50006-2R is a Thyratron Rectifier manufactured by Reliance Electric. This product may have been produced by ASEA BROWN BOVERI and Baldor Reliance depending on when it was released. The 50006-2R was also known under the part numbers 0-50006-2R, 0500062R, or O-50006-2R. This product has since been discontinued by the manufacturer and is obsolete.
The 50006-2R is considered to be a black PC Board. It is life indicating and non-indicating. This thyratron rectifier is meant to use two gas-filled tubes (not provided in this kit) which are labeled on this product as RL-5684 Ne for the left one and RL-7723 NE for the right.
A thyratron is used to control electrical switches or rectifiers. The RL-5684 Ne and RL-7723 are tubes that can plug into a rectifier (like the 50006-2R) to convert AC current to DC current. It is necessary to do this because the DC current is easier to control because it only flows in one direction.
