About the 50007-R
50007-R Thyratron Rectifier
The 50007-R is a Reliance Electric component used in company drives. This component is no longer manufactured. It can be purchased from AX Control as liquidated never-used surplus or as a reconditioned used part. The 50007-R was marketed under company names Asea Brown Boveri, Baldor-Reliance, and Reliance Electric.
The 50007-R is a Thyratron Rectifier. A thyratron is a controlled rectifier/high-power electrical switch. Thyristors have replaced most thyratrons in low- and medium-power applications.
The 50007-R is composed of an external carrier with mounting brackets on its bottom surface. The top surface is heavily marked with pertinent component information. The 50007-R uses two types of internal tubing: this includes a Reliance RL5684-NE power tube and an RL7723-Ne tube. The 5684-NE tube is Xenon and Neon filled. It is 6 inches in length with a 1.563-inch diameter. This tube is rated for 1,250 peak forward or inverse volts, 30A peak cathode with an average cathode rating of 2.5A. Fault amperage is 300A. The 7723-NE tube is also Xenon and Neon filled. This is a half-wave rectifier. It is 5.5 inches in length with a 1.625-inch diameter. Peak inverse voltage is 920. It is rated for 30 A peak amps, 2.5 average amps. Alternately, the unit can use non-indicating 6011 and 7018 tubes. These are gas and mercury filled or mercury filled.
