The 607980-76B was a 100V, 1000 RPM Tachometer Generator. This device was used with Reliance Electric drives and motors. This generator had a maximum RPM rating of 3000. Tachometer generator’s main purpose is to measure the speed of motors and engines. It does this using are powerful electromagnets. Quite proportional to their shaft speed, these generators produce a standard output voltage. This generator also powers tachometers which are gauges that can display standard RPMs. This type of generator can convert rotational speed into an isolated voltage signal in an analog form. They are meant to either have an output of AC or DC current. DC current is a little more stable because it can only flow in one direction.
