About the 66458-W
The 66458-W module is an auxiliary contact block that was created and produced by Reliance Electric and is meant to be used with their contactors and motor starters. The 66458-W auxiliary contact block may be available from AX Control as a refurbished product or as a brand new product.
The 66458-W auxiliary contact is an N.C. contact block, and that stands for Normally Closed. Normally closed auxiliary contacts are ones that allow an electrical current to run throughout the entirety of the device and is not currently energized.
When adding the 66458-W auxiliary contact to a Reliance Electric contactor, keep in mind that an extra 0.5 inches will be added to the contactor’s width diameter. Make sure that you have the space to allow the 66458-W auxiliary contact to your machinery.
The 66458-W auxiliary contact has an applicable accessory, which is a special screwdriver (catalog number 100T-SD). The special screwdriver is one that is specifically designed to positively mate with an auxiliary contact block assembly screw.
In addition to being installed into a contactor, you can outfit a Reliance Electric motor starter with an auxiliary contact on each side, allowing up to four auxiliary contacts per motor starter. If you have an optionally available side mounting kit, you can add up to four more auxiliary contact blocks for a total of eight auxiliary contacts blocks running on one motor starter simultaneously.
The Reliance Electric auxiliary contact blocks are fairly fragile pieces of hardware, meaning that they must be installed in an environment that is clean, free from any dust or debris, and clear of any hazardous gases from chemicals. Failure to install an auxiliary contact block in a safe, clean environment can impede its functions.
