About the 78091-3R
The 78091-3R is a Reliance Electric DC Contactor replacement part. While these parts were originally marketed and sold by Reliance, which was sometimes known as Baldor Reliance or Asea Brown Boveri, they are no longer available through the original company. AX Control tries to maintain on-shelf stock so as to more quickly offer service to our customers. Contactors like this one originally came in sizes from 1 to five and were used as main line, accelerating or reversing contactors for DC controllers or motor starters. They could also be used for resistive heating applications or for battery loads.
The 78091-3R is a size 2 contactor rated at 56 amps 250 VDC. It is built with double break contacts made from silver cadmium oxide and has built-in permanent magnet blowouts for positive circuit interruption. This contactor is designed with molded pressure-type terminals. These are standard DC operation terminals. This unit has two normally open contacts. The unit has a definite purpose rating.
