84586-24R Reliance Rack Module
The 84586-24R is a Reliance Electric drive/rack component used in the company’s various systems. This rack module was sold under several manufacturing names. This includes Asea Brown Boveri/ABB, Reliance Electric, and Baldor-Reliance. The rack module is no longer actively manufactured by may be available as new-old-stock from AX Control.
The 84586-24R is designed with a vertical rack board guide on top of a backplane circuit board. The circuit board has eight female connectors to accept the backplane connectors of other boards. These are individually labeled with the circuit board ID numbers they are designed to accept, in order to minimize the chance of the wrong circuit board being installed in the incorrect slot. It also has several lines of terminal pins to accept wired connections. Surface wires connect to this board and then terminate elsewhere on the module. The vertical rack system has several guide holes cut in its short sides to allow wires to exit from the interior of the module. Wires sometimes connect to terminal strips located on the top edge of the rack system, or to a terminal strip mounted to one side of the rack.
