About the 86466-47R
The 86466-47R was a Rectifier Stack S6 MaxPak 230 created by Reliance Electric. The 86466-47R was also mass-produced by ASEA BROWN BOVERI and Balder Reliance. It has since been discontinued by those manufacturers and relabeled as an obsolete part.
The rectifier stack also called a Phase Rectifier Module, is used to convert energy from AC to DC currents. This is done because a DC current is easier to manage because it can only move in a single direction.
The 86466-47R is a part of a Spindle Drive System. It is mounted in the Rectifier Enclosure which is the center portion of an Isolation Transformer on the Spindle Drive Chassis where each of three thyristor pairs controls one phase of an AC supply line.
The main portion of the rectifier enclosure includes a Rectifier Enclosure Cover, a Thyristor Cooling Fan, and Phase Rectifier Modules. The rectifier enclosure houses three identical rectifier stacks. Each stack/module is an assembly of several different components: a thyristor pair with heat sinks, two gate coupling cards, MOV suppression networks, and terminations for line and load connections. Overlap drives require insulators between these rectifier modules. There are two types of rectifier modules, medium current, and low current. The differences between the two types are based upon the thyristors within the module. Medium-current modules can be substituted for low-current modules but not the other way around.
