86466-74RC Thyristor Assembly Rectifier Stack
The 86466-74RC is a component for use within MaxPak Plus DC variable speed drive systems. This component was sometimes sold under company names ABB (Asea Brown Boveri) and Baldor-Reliance. It is no longer actively manufactured, but it can be purchased from AX Control as liquidated surplus (new old) stock or as a reconditioned used unit. The 86466-74RC is a Thyristor Assembly Rectifier Stack, primarily used in 230V and 460V A-C Input systems. These are typically used as three units together. The assembly is designed as two heat sink stacks with two rectifier diodes (thyristors) mounted to their interiors. A small board (0-51378-19) that is populated with a transformer, terminal pins, resistors, and diodes is mounted to the top of each heat sink and connected to components mounted lower within the heat sink stacks by two braided red and white wires. The top of each stack has a large RFV 800 fuse component bolted to its top. Using three of these thyristor assemblies together allows the power unit to provide adjustable d-c voltage to the motor armature circuit from phase-controlled-rectification of 3-phase a-c plant power.
