About the 86466-76R
The 86466-76R is a Lower AC Heat Sink Rectifier Stack that was created by Reliance Electric. Reliance Electric was a large manufacturer of automation devices back in the 1980s. However, the parts they once produced are considered obsolete. The 86466-76R has two main functions. The first function is as a heat sink. A heat sink is something that is used in a variety of devices to transfer the heat that is produced from the device while it is operating and transfer it to a “fluid” medium which can be a liquid coolant or moving air. The second half of the 86466-76R’s purpose if to “straighten” electrical currents from AC to DC. The purpose of the “straightening” is to make the energy flow more predictable. An AC current can move in two ways say forwards and backward for example, and a DC current can only move forward. By transferring the current to a DC current, it makes it predictable and often times safer. The 86466-76R can also hold a small circuit board at the top of the device. Refer to Reliance Electric’s user’s manuals and data sheets for additional information.
