About the 86474-8S
86474-8S Rectifier Stack
The 86474-8S is a Rectifier Stack assembly used within various Reliance Electric drive systems. This component is sometimes sold under the manufacturing names of ABB or Baldor-Reliance.
The 86474-8S is designed as two large heat sink assemblies connected together by two bolts. These “stacks” have an extending flange on one bottom edge with two drill holes that allow the unit to be mounted into place and a flat edge on the other side.
The two heat sink stacks that make up the 86474-8S are both populated on their top surfaces with components. One stack has a single Sprague box capacitor that has red and white braided wires connected to its two poles, while the other side is topped by a small circuit board (0-51378-15.) This board is screw mounted to the top of the stack. Components on its surface include a transformer, two male header pin connectors, a resistor, and a diode. Additional red and white braided wires are attached to this card. More components are located between the two heat sink stacks.
