The purpose of the 2DF2282 AC mains filter, as is the purpose of all SP500 series AC mains filters, is to limit the amount of conducted electromagnetic emissions to the AC power mains from the core of the SP500 drives. 

To install an 2DF2282 AC mains filter, be sure to follow the proper guidelines to ensure safe installation. The SP500 drive must be screwed directly onto the 2DF2282 AC mains filter using screws that are provided with your SP500 drive. The flexible conduit, also a provided part, must be attached to both the bottoms of the SP500 drive and of the 2DF2282 AC mains filter. This is the only mounting type that is permitted. Next, you will need to attach the SP500 drive with the 2DF2282 AC mains filter mounted underneath to either a panel or a wall. Preferably, the surface that you mount the SP500 drive onto will be conductive, although it is not necessary for it to operate. Unlike when mounting the SP500 drive to the 2DF2282 AC mains filter, the user must supply the hardware used to mount the finished product to the panel or wall.
