About the 3020-ENA-485
The 3020-ENA-485 is a Powerlogic Enercept Network Adapter manufactured by Square D. The 3020-ENA-485 is designed to help Enercept meters--which communicate through 2-wire RS-485 communications with no parity--to communicate smoothly with PowerLogic circuit monitors and power monitors that use 4-wire RS-485 communications with even parity.
Some considerations to keep in mind when networking a 3020-ENA-485 with other PowerLogic devices:
-
two devices on one RS-485 network are not able to have the same address
-
Power Logic protocol devices such as Circuit monitors and Power meters cannot have an address of 0 or 1
-
Modbus protocol devices (enercept meters) cannot have an address of 16
-
If added to a mixed mode string, circuit monitors must have Firmware updated to 17.008 or above.
-
the 3020-ENA-485 does not use an address
-
There are no offsets on the 3020-ENA-485. Therefore, the only addresses available on a single mixed mode RS-485 network are 1 through 15 and 17 through 63
-
requires control power, 9-24 V AC/DC 1.5W
It is worth noting that because the 3020-ENA-485 converts 4-wire to 2-wire as it converts from even parity on the 4-wire to no parity on the 2-wire, it cannot be used to extend a 2-wire NO parity network.
Please note that all electrical modules should only be installed, maintained, and serviced by qualified electrical personnel. The 3020-ENA-485 is in compliance with the limits for a Class A digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation of this equipment in a residential area may cause radio or TV interference which the user will be required to correct.
