About the E04-3

The Powerlogic E04-3 enhanced Enercept Meter by Square D (Schneider Electric) is a cost-effective module for energy metering purposes. The E04-3 has three inter-connected split-core CTs, one of which has on-board communication and metering electronics.

The E04-3 is UL listed and cUL listed. The module can deliver up to 26 data parameters, including amps, demand, volts, power, energy, reactive power and power factor. The E04-3 is designed to be used on single-phase systems as well as three-phase systems.

The E04-3 provides ANSI C12.1 metering accuracy and has on-board Modbus RTU-2 wire protocols (RS-485) which allow for the transfer of data to a variety of connected devices (PC, E-server, or a PowerLogic network.) Transferred data may be in tabular or graphical format.

The E04-3 has the following parts:

• Neutral Lead

• External CTs

• Address Selection Switches

• Status-LED

• A Modbus RS-485 Connector

• Mandatory fuse (per NEC)

• Three Voltage leads

Status leads will show by color whether the E04-3 is working properly. It is important to note the E04-3 should not be installed on the line or load side of a VFD unit, as the fuse pack assembly can overheat and become inoperable. The arrangement of CTs within equipment also has to be taken into consideration to make sure the bending radius of all conductors is not affected. CTs should be installed on conductors. The CT cannot place strain on the conductor. Please note a CT may require extra support to correct situations that place extra strain on conductors, to ensure the E04-3 remains in proper working order.
